When a Gainesville bank needed old painted arrows and lane markings removed from its active parking lot, the job came with two hard requirements: remove only the selected markings — completely — without disturbing the striping around them, and do it without interrupting business. Here is how precision concrete media blasting solved both.
The lot’s painted arrows and lane markings no longer matched the traffic flow the bank wanted, but the rest of the striping was staying. Grinding the markings off would scar the concrete and leave permanent shadows. Chemical strippers risk staining, need dwell time, and create runoff in an open lot. And because the lot serves customers all day, the work could not block drive lanes during business hours. The bank needed selected markings gone, the surrounding paint untouched, and zero operational disruption.
Paint on concrete soaks below the surface, which is why scraping always leaves ghosting. Media blasting lifts the paint out of the pores instead of smearing over them, and the nozzle gives an operator surgical control — critical when an arrow has to disappear inches away from striping that stays. No chemicals, no runoff, and a finish that weathers back into the surrounding concrete instead of standing out as a scar. This is exactly the kind of work our concrete sandblasting service is built for.
We scheduled the work during the bank’s closed hours so drive lanes stayed open for customers all day. Adjacent striping that was staying put was masked, media and pressure were calibrated for the lot’s concrete, and each selected marking was blasted out individually — arrows and lane lines removed cleanly while the striping beside them stayed sharp. Spent media and removed paint were collected from the work area before opening, and each area was inspected before we moved to the next.
Every targeted marking came out completely — no shadows of old arrows confusing drivers, no scarring from grinders. After natural weathering, the treated areas blended seamlessly with the surrounding concrete. The bank never closed, and the lot’s new traffic flow took over without a trace of the old layout.
